I am an opera singer for Shakespeare Opera Theatre, Opera on Tap, and Sopranessence. I also help lead the choir at Cherrydale United Methodist Church, and I cantor at St. Agnes Catholic Church, both in Arlington. I started singing in high school because I loved musical theatre. Then I saw a Live in HD transmission from the Metropolitan Opera and fell in love with opera! I have been singing opera since college.
Most recently, in 2021 I performed the role of the Mother in Shakespeare Opera Theatre’s production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. In 2020, I played the role of Queen Gertrude in their production of Hamlet. In 2019, I played Prince Escalus (Yes, a “trouser” role!) in SOT’s Romeo and Juliet and was a featured soloist in their summer concert, Vive La France. In 2018 I joined the Sopranessence women’s ensemble and have appeared in concerts with them ever since. You can find recordings of our virtual concerts on YouTube! In 2017, I performed another trouser role – Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Shakespeare Opera Theatre. Other roles I’ve performed include Sandman in Hansel and Gretel, Mother in The Consul, and Giovanna in Rigoletto. That’s just a few examples!
When I’m not singing or practicing piano, I love to cook, hang out with my family, watch TV, or read. My secret talent is folding origami cranes.
